MAS launches 3-year integrity plan

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) today launched a three-year MAS Integrity Plan (MIP) to inculcate a culture of best practices in integrity and ethical behaviour throughout the organisation.

In a statement today, MAS said its chairman, Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, launched the MIP at the two-day Quality Assurance Conference, starting today.

Munir said MIP would reaffirm the airline's commitment to strengthen its corporate governance policy to promote greater transparency, openness and respect towards its internal and external stakeholders.

"Ethical behaviour and integrity are non-negotiable code of conduct expected of every employee. While our employees are already governed and abided by the existing code of conduct, MIP is a systematic way of reinforcing the best practices," he said.
He said emphasis would be on mitigating fraud throughout the organisation through a thorough process of education, prevention, assurance, enhancement as well as a reward and reprimand system.

The airline also launched the "Fraud Risk Indicator Dashboard" to facilitate continuous auditing and monitoring of potential fraud risk areas.

Munir said the dashboard was built based on 20 indicators which were common to the airline industry.

"We have absolutely zero tolerance of fraud.

"Systems and processes for these potential fraud risk areas are automated, closely monitored and will be reported immediately to management should the need arises. This will be complemented with reward and reprimand system," he said. -- Bernama
