Konsortium keen on Pos Malaysia stake

KONSORTIUM Logistik Bhd (6157) says it is keen to buy Khazanah Nasional Bhd's stake in in the country's postal services firm, Pos Malaysia Bhd.

"Yes, we are interested in Pos Malaysia," Konsortium's executive vice-president Loo Hooi Keat said, but declined to elaborate.

It is believed that Konsortium will be able to fund RM200 million on its own.

It was reported that Konsortium is one of the 11 entities eyeing a stake in Pos Malaysia. Khazanah announced in March that it plans to divest its 32 per cent controlling stake in Pos Malaysia.

Shares of Pos closed at RM3.08 sen yesterday against RM2.25 sen when the news was first announced. Based on yesterday's close, this would translate into some RM500 million for the stake.

Khazanah had said that a key requirement for qualifying bids should be that it is majority controlled by Malaysian parties, with appropriate consideration and due merit to be given to the quality of strategic and technical partners that may include foreign parties.
