Proton Holdings Bhd has confirmed that there will be changes to the board composition within the group, both at holdings as well as subsidiary levels.
Proton said that as it moved forward with its Asian multi-local original equipment manufacturer strategy which, in essence, focused on expanding Proton’s export market, more emphasis would be put on export markets and new technologies.
"These changes are continuous efforts by the board to meet evolving challenges, raise the level of effectiveness with a vision to further improve the operational and financial performance of the group,” it said in a statement yesterday.
It added that Proton had, in the past, seen several changes to its board composition and this was not something out of the ordinary.
The reviewing and enhancing board effectiveness would also ensure that Proton would continue its sustainability and survivability in these highly challenging times, complimented by board members with the relevant international experience and exposure, at varying stages of Proton’s planned development.
“In this respect, the recent resignations of Kadir Kassim and Oh Kim Sun are personal decisions and the board respects their wishes,” it said.
On behalf of the board of directors, management and staff of Proton group, chairman Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh would like to extend his gratitude and appreciation to these directors for their valuable contributions and time spent, it said.
