KONSORTIUM Logistik Bhd (6157) plans to bring in a technical or strategic partner, should it be able to pre-qualify for Khazanah Nasional Bhd's 32.2 per cent stake in Pos Malaysia Bhd.
"It's too early now ... but should we be given the chance to bid for the stake, we will bring in a partner. The partner would not be to fund the purchase, but more for the expertise to manage Pos Malaysia," Konsortium's executive vice-president Loo Hooi Keat told reporters after its annual general meeting yesterday.
He told shareholders that the company had expressed its interest in Khazanah's stake confidentially, via an investment bank.
"It's not yet a proposal, it's still very early stage. Whether we pre-qualify or not (is another matter), but we are interested," Loo said.
Konsortium executive director Che Azizuddin Che Ismail said Pos Malaysia's network and courier arm, PosLaju, made it a very attractive proposition for the company.
"We believe that with our vast experience in the logistics industry, we will be able to add value to its operations," he said.
Loo said the company sees a lot of growth potential in the parcel business (PosLaju) of Pos Malaysia.
According to media reports, some 11 companies are interested in Khazanah's stake in Pos Malaysia.
Pos Malaysia shares closed RM0.01 higher yesterday at RM3.03.
