George Kent (Malaysia) Bhd has secured another water infrastructure project with the award of a RM129.8 million contract to construct and complete a 160-million-litres-per-day Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Kuantan, Pahang.
The contract was awarded by the East Coast Economic Region Development Council in an open tender, the company said in a statement today.
It said the project was scheduled for completion by Aug 12, 2013, which would be 157 weeks from the site possession date of Aug 10, 2010.
"We are pleased to have secured this WTP Project soon after the award of the Semantan Intake Pumping Station of the Pahang-Selangor Raw Water Transfer Project last month," said its Chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock.
He said the company would continue to leverage on its mechanical and engineering (M&E) engineering expertise, project management skills and track record in water infrastructure projects to further boost its construction order book.
"Currently, George Kent is pursuing infrastructure contracts within the water and healthcare industries, worth several billions," he added.
Meanwhile, the company recorded a net profit of RM2.9 million for the first quarter of the year ending Jan 31, 2011 on a turnover of RM32.5 million.
Its balance sheet is healthy with cash and cash equivalent of RM55.3 million and net cash position of RM29.3 million as at end-April 2010.
