Unisem (M) Bhd said its second quarter ended June 30 net profit doubled to RM48mil from RM23.9mil a year ago as sales surged 41% to RM359mil.
The country’s second largest listed semiconductor testing and packaging firm attributed the sharp increase in revenue and net profit to improved sales volume amid strong demand for the products and services offered by the group.
Unisem’s net profit had been rising over the past five consecutive quarters. Earlier this week, CIMB Research said Unisem was on track to deliver its best ever year, both in terms of revenue and profit, in 2010.
“The board of directors expects demand for the product and services of the group to improve further in the third quarter,” Unisem told Bursa Malaysia yesterday.
The company expects business to remain strong for the rest of the financial year ending Dec 31.
