HELP International Corp Bhd (7236) will introduce a new course in January next year that will focus on animation production and production of cartoon series.
"Although there are many people who can do animation here, this is the first time that a college is conducting such a course with reputable teachers, who have worked in the field and carved a name for themselves with these big production houses," Chan said after the group's extraordinary general meeting in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday.
He added that the six-month course will be introduced at its new campus in Jalan Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur.
Candidates graduating from this course will be issued a certificate for a start.
"In such skilled profession you don't have to study so long. You just need the basics and talent, and you're good to go," he said, explaining the rational of not having a degree course in animation studies.
He added that the course will enable students to complete their internship at one of the reputable animation studio houses in Los Angeles prior to their graduation.
"This course will also be reasonably priced and we won't take in many people for the first batch as we want quality people to join," he said.
Besides animation courses, the group is also looking at introducing a Bachelor of Early Childhood by the end of the year.
