Firefly managing director Datuk Eddy Leong has committed to offer the lowest fares in the country with its new jet operations after the community airline unveiled yesterday its new fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

“I personally guarantee the lowest fare in Malaysia with the operations of Firefly’s Boeing 737-800 from KLIA,” he sad.

Leong added that he was confident of savings in terms of operating costs from the jet operations which the airline would “give back to customers in offering lowest fares”.

“The values that our passengers will enjoy encompass savings from the lowest fares available, aerobridge facilities, simplified purchasing of bundled services that will give customers 40% savings off the standard rates and the superior service levels that Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are famous for,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Leong said there would be announcements of new routes in the future as Firefly’s fleet grows.

Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, who officiated the unveiling of the new fleet’s livery, said the introduction of the jets meant that passengers had better choices to satisfy their travel needs and yet still enjoy low fares.

“I must congratulate Firefly on its decision to operate this new generation of aircraft, namely the Boeing 737-800 as this aircraft has been proven to be superior in terms of economical operating costs, its advanced technical features and also passenger conveniences.

“It is the right aircraft to tap into the growth in the domestic and regional travel market in Malaysia and the region,” he said.

Firefly’s current promotion is the one way all-in fare from RM59 from KLIA for flights to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu respectively. The booking period is from Jan 1-16 for the travel period of Jan 17 till May 15 this year. - by Surin Murugiah, theedgemalaysia.com.
