Alpha: CIMB, Maybank head top 10 list

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group and Maybank headed the list of the top 10 companies in Malaysia, according to the result of the second annual poll among investors by Alpha Southeast Asia.


The poll was to find Southeast Asia's top companies and the others listed were Public Bank, Telekom Malaysia (TM), Maxis, IOI Group, Tenaga Nasional, YTL Corp, AirAsia and Petronas Chemicals.

Maybank's former group chief financial officer (CFO), Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, was named the Best CFO in Malaysia.

The poll for most organised investor relations (IR) went to CIMB, Maxis and TM. The best senior management IR support category went to IOI, Tenaga and YTL Corp.

Maybank, Public Bank and TM were listed as the strongest Adherents to corporate governance, while all three were again highlighted for most consistent dividend policy.

Meanwhile, AirAsia, Petronas Chemicals and TM were cited for the best strategic CSR. For most improved IR, it was Maybank, and TM was in the spotlight for the best annual report in Malaysia.

The poll for the different categories was based on tallied votes among 460 investors, pension funds, hedge funds, equity and fixed-income brokers as well as analysts with investment interests in Southeast Asia.

Companies in each country were ranked on their financial management, adherence to corporate governance, CSR and investor relations' strategy, transparency and disclosure.
