KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd, a leading integrated communications service provider, expects to increase its Internet subscriber base from 700,000 to one million within a year, says joint chief operating officer Mark Dioguardi.
He said Maxis allocated RM900 million for capital expenditure last year compared with about RM1 billion spent in 2011.
"Maxis, which has 2,300 Maxis WiFi Hotspots across the country, plans to increase this number to over 8,000 in early 2013," he said after a briefing on Maxis' new home wireless Internet and broadband packages.
On the new and improved Maxis Home Wireless Internet plans, he said it would retail for as low as RM59 a month while the Maxis Wireless Broadband plans would cost as low as RM48 a month.
"Our Home Wireless Internet service brings WiFi to over five million household across Malaysia with plug and play convenience.
"Maxis just got even better with the introduction of two new affordable packages with higher quotas.
"Consumers who need Internet on-the-go can choose the Maxis Wireless Broadband service which provides them the convenience of being connected whether they are at home, at the office or on-the-go," he said.
Maxis postpaid customers will enjoy ease of payment with a single bill, integrated with their Maxis postpaid mobile service, for both the Home Wireless Internet and Wireless Broadband services.
Those subscribing to the 28GB and 48GB packages will get to enjoy an additional RM10 discount on their monthly fee for these packages, said Dioguardi. Bernama
