Prestariang is the country's largest provider of information communications technology (ICT) training, certification and software licence management and distribution.
The group is also involved in providing professional ICT training and certification, offering more than 50 certification courses.
Over the week, the Employees Provident Fund emerged as a substantial shareholder of Prestariang Bhd with a 5.21% stake or 11.41 million shares.
The pension fund acquired 477,300 shares in the provider of information communications technology training, certification and software company on June 3.
Prestariang's major software suppliers include Microsoft and Autodesk. In addition, 60% of the group revenue is on a recurring basis, providing a defensive and stable revenue base for Prestariang.
Last year, 60% of Prestariang's revenue came from the public sector and the balance from the private sector.
Three years back, 90% of Prestariang's revenue came from the public sector.
One area of potential growth for Prestariang is the oil and gas industry.
The group is working with the Government and the major players in this industry to offer certification programmes for the oil and gas industry.
Prestariang has already designed and developed a recognised oil and gas industry-based professional training and certification programme.
To complement this programme, the group is working with Autodesk to provide software management services to the sector. The stock yesterday closed 11 sen higher to RM1.97.
