THANKS to a strategic partnership between Maxis and Opera Software, Maxis customers, including Hotlink users, can now enjoy unlimited web browsing for as low as RM1 a day via the Opera Mini browser.
With this deal, Maxis is the first telco in Malaysia to offer unlimited web browsing for such a minimal rate courtesy of its Opera Mini data plan which will be delivered via the web pass platform.
Maxis head of digital services T Kugan said the move was one way of enhancing its customers' mobile internet experience.
"With the launch of this unlimited web browsing via the Opera Mini browser, we are providing customers an attractive mobile data plan that enables cost-conscious mobile web surfers to enjoy unlimited internet browsing, anytime and anywhere over our network, which is the widest and fastest in the country.
"Importantly, through this offering, we are reinforcing our commitment to provide greater access to the internet for Malaysians," said Kugan.
The data plan gives Maxis customers total control over their browsing experience without having to commit to a fixed monthly rate.
Opera Software CEO Lars Boilesen believes that the data plan combines what customers need most for mobile web browsing – speed, flexibility and simplicity.
"Partnering with Maxis has offered us the opportunity to provide more Malaysians an easier way to access the internet with mobile devices, through the popular Opera Mini browser. Browsing the web via your mobile devices has never been so affordable," he said.
The Opera Mini unlimited browsing data plan can be easily activated whenever mobile users want to surf. All users need to do is launch the Maxis/Opera Mini browser, click the "RM1/DAY" web pass icon, pick the one-day, unlimited data plan and confirm the purchase.
In addition, customers can also surf Twitter Mobile for free via Maxis FREEZONE, by clicking the “Maxis FREEZONE” icon in the homepage of the Maxis/Opera Mini browser.
The Opera Mini data plan is available for the Opera Mini browser 4.4, and above, BlackBerry, J2ME, S60 and Android phones.
