MRCB aims to complete flyover in Q1

Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) aims to complete construction of the flyover linking Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Damansara and Mahameru Highway by the first quarter of next year.

Construction of the flyover, slated under the second package of the project,was going on at feverish pace with more than 30 per cent having been completed currently, said chief executive officer Mohamed Razeek Hussain.

The project's first package -- construction of a flyover at Jalan Travers to Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur -- was completed seven months ahead of schedule as the original deadline was on March next year, he said at the official launch of the flyover by the Federal Territory and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Datuk Raja Zainal Abidin here today.

Mohamed Razeek said his company was actively carrying out construction workunder the third package, entailing building and upgrading of the road for the traffic dispersal scheme in Brickfields besides redevelopment of the "Little India" area.

The flyover officiated today is part of the five packages under the government's stimulus package for the traffic dispersal scheme.

"All the five packages will be completed in 14 months," he said. On the five packages worth RM110 million, Mohamed Razeek said package four involved construction of pedestrian bridges and linkages while package five concerned upgrading and repairing roads in KL Sentral. -- Bernama
