DBKL: Beware of imposters ‘selling’ PPR units

The public are advised to be wary of individuals claiming to act on behalf of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in the sale of People’s Housing Projects (PPR) units in the city

“Do not be duped by such conmen as DBKL does not appoint agents or middlemen to sell the PPR units,” DBKL housing management director Sukiman Surahman said.

“These individuals are going around using documents bearing DBKL’s letterhead and the letters are purportedly signed by me.

“It looks almost like my signature but it is a fraud.

“We have received one official complaint from a victim who said he was approached by an individual who claimed to be an agent for DBKL who could help him buy a PPR unit,’’ he said.

Sukiman said the victim was told to pay a deposit of RM15,000 to help secure a unit in PPR Laksamana in Jalan Peel, Kuala Lumpur.

“There is so such thing. PPR Laksamana is not even on the list of housing units for sale. DBKL housing units are only offered for sale to those currently renting the units and not for the public,’’ he said.

He added that people should use their common sense when faced with such an offer and not fall victim to their own greed.

He said DBKL’s hotline service had even received calls from the public asking about the so-called offer of sale of PPR units and wanted to verify those ‘DBKL agents’.

“Do not be fooled if you are approached by a middleman offering a PPR unit for sale. Call 03-2617 6116 / 6106 / 6107 / 6108 / 6109 immediately,” said Sukiman.

Processing pertaining to the sale and purchase of low-cost housing units is directly carried out by DBKL’s Housing Department at Level 6, Menara DBKL 3, Bandar Wawasan, Jalan Raja Abdullah, KL.

If you have been approached by a middleman or agents claiming to be representing DBKL, lodge a complaint at 1800-88-3255.
