The 'My First House' scheme is only for private sector workers earning below RM3,000 monthly, said Deputy FinanceMinister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussain. He said civil servants are not eligible to apply for the housing scheme because they already have government housing loan facility.
"The scheme launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling 2011 Budget on March 8 is for private sector workers under 35 years to apply for 30 year loans," he said in reply to a question by Datuk Abdul Manan Ismail (BN-Paya Besar).
Manan wanted to know whether civil servants could apply for the housing scheme or it was meant only for private sector workers.
Awang said those who qualify could apply for loans from 25 banks including Islamic financial institutions to buy houses priced at RM100,000-RM220,000 each.
"The scheme effective March 8 offers 100 percent financing by commercial banks," he said in reply to a question by Datuk Idris Harun (BN-Tangga Batu) on implementation of the housing scheme. - BERNAMA
