Microsoft Office 2010 now available in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The next version of Microsoft’s productivity suite, Microsoft Office 2010 is now available in Malaysia.Microsoft Malaysia’s director of information worker group, Raveesh Gupta, said the suite of applications saw a record of nearly 10 million people around the world downloading the Office 2010 beta, with 50,000 of them from Malaysia.

“Office 2010 can also be purchased with most popular desktops and laptops from leading personal computer (PC) makers including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.

“Working with major retail partners and PC makers, we have made dramatic changes in the

way we deliver Office 2010 to give consumers more buying choice, making it easier than ever to unlock the power of Office on new and existing PCs,” he told reporters at the launch of the updated software here yesterday.

Raveesh said for the first time, people could buy a product key card at retail outlets to activate Office 2010 preloaded on new PCs.

He said based on the response so far, the company was confident that Office 2010 would become the biggest ever-release of Office.

“By year-end, 80 per cent of PCs worldwide will come pre-loaded with Office 2010,” he said. — Bernama
